Team Kilburn babes are tumbling to get into the limelight. Here is another very special TKOE baby – say hello to Yona (pronounced to rhyme with ‘honour’), who will be the grand old age of 3 months on Feb 8th. She’s very beautiful and very lucky to be the daughter of Deborah, who many of you know from gins, jams and beech leaf noyau fame. And the proceeds from last autumn are going to Little Princess Trust. I was impressed – made a baby and made gins and chutneys and raised money for the £20k challenge all at the same time.
Wouldn’t it be funny if Blog Boy and Blog Girl met a long time into the future and discovered their link through TKOE. Blog Boy is still nameless….there’s been a half serious suggestion of help from all you blog readers to suggest suitable names. Personally I think that’s risky. Too risky by far.
For some reason, that’s reminded me of something I’m always interested in – what would you have been called if you had been born the other sex. I would have been Paul, apparently. It’s a good job none of our three were born the other sex, because they would never have had a name.

The Knock On Effect 
Oh my word, another completely scrummy baby. Yona is adorable. Is matchmaking going to be yet another TKOE activity?
I don’t know what I would have been called if I was a boy (will ask my mother and report back). But I do know that she wanted to call me Adele but was outvoted by my paternal grandmother (long story but you get the idea). So that’s what happens when other people get a say in naming offspring…to be avoided methinks. x
I was going to be called David if I was a boy, but then I was supposed to be called Emma if I was a girl.
Quite obviously, I wasn’t called Emma. When I was born, they took one look at me and said “Oh no! That’s NOT an Emma!” My older sister (aged 8 at the time) suggested the name Deborah and everyone agreed. So who knows what name they would have come up with if I had been born a boy?
P.S. Yona is very pleased to be in the limelight once more. She likes an audience, which is why at the last moment she chose to be born by C section in a theatre full of people, rather than the originally planned mum, dad and midwife affair that we had hoped for!
However, she says that she would like to choose her own future partner, if that’s OK with you guys. Not that she’s ruling out Blog Boy. Just reserving judgement until he is at least toilet trained before she makes a commitment.

I have no idea what my name would have been of I’d been a boy but I frequently get mistaken for one because I sign myself as Alex. Also I’m quite tall…..

I’m not keen on my name and not sure but would probably have been Ramsay had I been a boy but am so glad my mum broke with the tradition of naming the first granddaughter after the maternal grandmother. Your granny too Jo . Euphemia oh no , Effie for short. As much as I loved her sorry Ill stick with mine. My boys would have been Lisa and ? Instead of David and Stewart

I forgot to say that my suggestion of Reginald (after blog boy’s great grandfather) Jacques did not find favour with Lucy and Russ I can’t imagine why!
I would have been Julian had I been a boy – from which you will gather that my parents were really Not Very Good at names (bearing in mind that I am 61, I would have been just in time for “Oh hello, I’m Julian and this is my friend Sandy”).
I am a bit biased about names, and have tended towards the simple for my own children – years of having to spell my name and explain its origin. But used to see some unusual names from my years processing exam results,e.g.a little girl called Sanyo, another called Miffy (think books about a white rabbit), and another called Loucheer (a way to spell Lucia, I imagine).
I was supposed to be Paula Kristin. But as my mother was being wheeled into the delivery room, my father said, “What about Johanna Kay?” My mother reportedly said, “fine… anything. Just get it over with!” I’ve always suspected that Johanna was chosen so that my nickname could be “Joey” – my mother used to say that I kicked so hard before I was born that the OB/GYN told her “You’re not going to have a baby human. You’re going to have a baby kangaroo!”
