Bonjour

14 Apr

Hehehe (see what  I did there? That’s hahaha en francais).

We are back. Had a fab time. Will post some pics later if I ever get my camera back from Sylv.

We did Eurotunnel and the peripherique which is less scary than the M25;

We ate snails (but no frogs legs); moule frites et steak frites; Cal had the biggest rummiest rum baba ever and got really giggly

We Eiffelled and metroed and Montmartred and Sacre Coered and Louvre pyramided and strolled under trees squared to precision;

We did a couple of crypts but not the catacombs or the sewers, much to Chris’s sadness.

We only argued once (every morning) about why 13 year olds don’t hear alarms, or loud banging on the door such that the person three doors down comes out to see what we want

And only one of us got stuck the wrong side of the ticket barrier in the Metro as she couldn’t find the right metro ticket. Cal introduced us to one pocket for used tickets and one for unused ones, after that.

We saw the glittering Eiffel Tower from the top of the Montparnasse tower, which was worth racing to, even in high heels

We met an accordian player – of course – and two delightful elderly ladies who didn’t mind at all when Chris, Cal and I tried to break into their flat, when we got our droits and our gauches muddled up.

We dealt with the very grumpy old man who thought we were trespassing in his garage, when really we were just extricating the car

We sheltered from the rain in Printemps and were asked to leave Bon Marche by the doorman. It turned out, he was actually giving us directions to the food hall which is in another building. Luckily, Chris retracted his outrage so quickly, we don’t think he noticed.

And we met very many waiters who served diablo grenadines by the litreful and very nice wine too.

We had some sun as well as rain. And we did, I’m afraid, do a bit of Disney. But it was ok because there were real demonstrators with placards and vuvuzelas there.

Yes, it is very expensive, but it is magical. Paris. Not Disney. Well, Disney is expensive. Oh, you know what I mean.

So we’re all back home now, to news that the bloodometer has risen to 19 units over Easter.  Tres yay!

🙂

C’est magnifique
