19 Jan

I’m sorry. This week has been really busy and tiring. So no posts.

It’s felt like quite a surreal week too, what with that cold spell, shipwrecks, a retail chain a day seeming to go out of business, and the dark mornings and evenings.

But Team Kilburn has carried on doing the business- thanks Jane for the brilliant plan of a year of raising money through tabletop sales.

One of the things I was excited about in the last post, I’m allowed to tell you about – one of Rosie’s old school friends has got together with some other people, and is organising a summer concert for Rosie and TKOE. It sounds really good. Rosie would love it, and there’s even auditions going on. Will give you more info when we have it.

And we now only need to raise £16321, thanks to a totally unexpected, and incredibly welcome donation from the North Halifax Grammar schools association carol concert.

Oh, and Chris can now play 8 notes, and a reasonable rendition (so he says) of Puff the Magic Dragon. He could audition for the concert : )

Wonderful news 🙂 TKOE will be making a real difference to the deserving charities you have handpicked to support. It’s cheering to hear tales of unexpected kindness especially in this dark winter month. Keep up the good work. You’ve raised so much and we’re only 19 days into 2012!

Love to you all from Chloe xxx

What a brilliant idea – a summer concert.. Rosie would definitely approve, can’t wait. Glad to hear, perhaps hear is the wrong word!! That Chris is still learning new notes. Harrie wants to play the saxophone but has been told to wait until her braces are off, so now she has decided that she would like to play a steel pan drum!! If anyone has one they don’t want, please let me know.

Helen, Are you SURE you want to live with a steel drum? Do you have deaf neighbours?
Jo, I’m glad the school is still finding ways of supporting Rosie. I look forward to the concert

I would pay a supplement to the ticket price to hear Chris play Puff the Magic Dragon 🙂

I was thinking about Ro the other day, I was in the library at Birmingham which overlooks the old part of QEH and remembering the time i drove Gee, Mike and Amy to see Ro after that first huge op and what a shock it was to see what she had been through.
She, of course, couldn’t wait to lift her hospital gown to show us the scar, which we were suitably impressed by.
Lots of times and places little thoughts like that come to mind, so vividly.

yep, I’m the same. Going to Birmingham myself next week which will be a bit of a challenge as I go past the hospital.

Can’t you take up the trombone, Jo, then Chris would soon start complaining about the noise…?

No apology ever needed, as we know that you post as and when you can. Hoping that you manage to have a peaceful and restorative weekend after your tiring week.
A summer concert – how wonderful. Will look forward to hearing the details in due course, but what a brilliant way to raise money. Can I have a Rocks for Rosie stall please? (www.facebook.com/rocksforrosie for any new blog readers).
And well done Chris. That’s excellent progress, and I don’t think there should be any question about a guest appearance at the concert. You will need to prepare an encore as well! x

Well, I’m not surprised you’re tired, you’ve been working hard at Rosie’s charities, keeping up this blog, doing the usual life stuff and having to listen to Chris playing saxaphone 🙂
A summer concert eh? I’m in!
And as for your monies raised – just amazing. I’m so impressed.
