Happy Times

5 Jan

What is happening with the weather? I know it’s winter and all that, but this wind and rain is ridiculous. And since when have there been so many trees which now appear so dangerous to walk underneath, drive beside or park under? I’m sure there weren’t so many before the wind. Still, only tiny powercuts to deal with and our colds are all improving.

Bet you all want to know how Rosie’s birthday went?

We had a grand night, thank you very much. A good group of Rosie’s friends came round. We had to improvise a bit because of the weather, but Team Kilburn is nothing if not adaptable. So . . . .

This was our bonfire once Toby and Chris decided that even with a tankerful of petrol, the big bonfire wasn’t going to light

These were some brilliant cakes Georgia made to accompany the burgers, hot dogs and Refresher lollies (you can get Refresher lollies!!)

We had some bizarre snake fireworks, which started out as round black discs like watch batteries and grew and grew into long twirly tubes. This is part of the epic firework display created by some of the guests

And here is the finale in lieu of a birthday cake. We did have candles to light the room though.

We really enjoyed it, so thank you Rosie’s friends, all of you who came along.  There’s also been cards and birthday greetings people have been putting on the blog and Facebook. We really liked the idea someone put up about who Rosie would be partying with  – as she undoubtedly would be. Her choices are endless and it’s really funny to imagine who she would get to come along.

And, we can report that the first TKOE blood donation has been made. Well done Kate! Mine’s not until March.

And  only  £19,898 to go to hit our target as TKOE has had its  first donations of 2012. Thanks for all the offers of donations to come as well. Will confirm which charities shortly. Very shortly.

And, and, and – have you seen the blog is coming up to 400,000 hits!

Bye 🙂

looks like you all had a great time and even the weather can’t foil Team Kilburn! The cakes look amazing – I don’t suppose there are any left……

Sounds like a fun time! I like the look of those cakes, and I didn’t know that you could get refresher lollies either – shall have to look out for them.

Just to add to the excitement I’m sure everyone is aware that it’s the big match this weekend – Tottenham Hotspurs v Cheltenham Town. Spurs won’t know what hit them……….

And Jo, those comfortable socks you got for Chrimbo – what brand? I am on a desperate search for good socks.

Well, yet again you’ve done Rosie proud. Such a brilliant way to mark and celebrate her birthday. I guess a few weather challenges are nothing when you’ve tackled so much. Don’t know how you do it but it’s just amazing. Great pics – thank you.
So despite nasty bugs and freaky weather, you’ve begun the year with such positives. An example to us all.
Whatever else, I think cake must feature heavily in the fundraising action forthwith… X

Hi, looks as if birthday celebrations went well, despite the weather! I am knitting at present and when I have a pile of stuff I’ll send it to you, Jo, with the idea of it being sold in aid of TKOE. Perhaps you can add it to one of your stalls during the year… Is that ok with you, Jo??
It’s been euky weather here too, but am hoping to get out on the bike this morning…

That would be very fine indeed Mags. Thank you. Jo

Aww looks like you had a nice evening! Rosie definatly would have got Dumbledore, Fred Weasley, Lupin and Tonks to go to her birthday:D

Matt donated blood with me the other day, so that’s another TKOE blood donation 🙂 xXx

I’m also next due to give blood in March so I will donate again as soon as I am allowed X
