Can we make it £4000?

14 Nov

Yesterday was just brilliant. I had to let it all soak in really, just so I could think through how to explain it.

It was just magic seeing people coming in through the doors, dressed in zumba gear or sports gear or shorts they’d not worn for decades, but were wearing now because they wanted to support something special. There were people of all ages and all talents. There were a few men doing it this time, which was really good to see. Natalie had trouble with her undergarments, but it was ok because Aaron had designed really brilliant Team Kilburn labels (I put a pic on yesterday) so everyone was distracted by wearing those.

There was the crack team of instructors, who just seemed to do this amazing relay of zumbaing, but they were doing the zumbathon as well, and still seemed to have huge amounts of energy. Then there was synchronised zumba when instructors and zumbathonees got up on the stage and did it together. And every time people flagged a bit, there was another surge of energy and off the hall went again. There were so many pictures and videos being taken, and everyone was just united in doing this thing. In fact, have a look at some of these:

The raffle was incredible – 39 prizes and really valuable ones in there. And people were really generous with buying tickets. Several people had made cakes, including little ones with TKOE dominoes on, and people made donations for those, into the Hope buckets.

We think Rosie was there because there was a special request track which she had asked for, and it started to play itself again at one point. And everyone just seemed to have a really good time.

Soooo, big deep breath here, we are trying to see if we can get the money raised up to £4000. We know that people have been donating since yesterday, so if you know anyone who wants to donate, you can tell them it’s not too late, just go to the Just Giving page, http://www.justgiving.com/zumbathonforrosie.

We and Hope can’t thank people enough – it just shows what a team effort can do. And everyone got a bit fitter in the process. Apart from all those people today with damaged knee joints; aching backs; injured pride, etc etc.

Yay!
