Go, Team Kilburn

20 Oct

Hah – look at those votes adding up. So, for anyone who didn’t read yesterday’s blog, here’s the link again:    http://communityforce.natwest.com/project/6031

Just register first then vote for Hope Support and  get all your friends to do it too. It’ll be brilliant if they win the money and what a triumph for all of the vast Team Kilburn.

Now, we are off to sunny places tomorrow, so in our absence keep the voting ball rolling, please, please, please. We’ll check in from time to time and will tell you all about our holiday next weekend. And don’t worry. We are leaving the house with people in it, cos we have cats and chickens to be looked after. As you know. I promised Rosie I would stop being scared of flying. So I’ll tell you how that went too.

Oh, and last bit of news – there’s a comment from Jane who organised the table top sale that so far there’s £330 raised, and more to come in. Well, make that nearer £500 when you add in what the TKOE stall raised. How brilliant is that. So top of the list of things to do when we’re back in chilly England is make loads and loads of donations.

Adios.  xx

Thanks for the link Jo and Chris, registered and voted thanks.

Hope your family holiday goes well and the weather stays fine all the time for you. Jo, as you are flying just remember is Rosie is sat there beside you encouraging you to enjoy the flight and then the holiday. By the way, flying is the good part of the travel, the longer the distance the better.

Good to hear you are still raising money for the TKOE and Jane has a good success with the table top sale.

Looking forward to hear from you all when you are back home sun tanned and refreshed, xxx

Yay for the Hope votes – keep them coming everyone, by any means available!
Have a good break Jo, you all need it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you found that your flying fear has receded into the background after all of the challenges you’ve dealt with so brilliantly of late. And it will be worth it to get some sunshine and relaxation. Love to you all. x

The Nat west website has announced a change in the rules. Voting will not now cease until noon on Monday 24th October. That gives us another 24 hours to collect votes for Hope Support – but it does the same for our competitors.
At this moment, we are running second.

Hope you have a great holiday!
As a member of the Hope team can I just say a huge thank you so far, it really means a lot to us to have the full force of TKOE behind us………..

I’ve just been watching Rosie on iplayer. Now I understand what others have been saying I hope the BBC are giving you a copy to keep. She is so vividly there.
If she hadn’t had cancer, who knowswhat she would have been? Prime Minister? Great actress? As it is, she is a symbol of hope and courage to hundreds of us, with a constant knock-on effect.
Thank-you so much for letting us share her.

Well, so far Cal has thrown up in the pool bar, and we’ve had a massive bathroom flood – not our fault. But the lovely hotel staff were unfazed so we’re taking it in our stride. Cal’s just eaten a massive pizza so we think he’s better…

      • Michelle October 21, 2011 at 9:18 pm #

Bad that Cal has thrown up, bad that you’ve had a flood, great that the hotel staff were unfazed, and even better that Cal has eaten and thus seems better.
Let’s hope the bad bits are done with and that the good bits continue. Onwards and upwards, as they say (whoever they may be 🙂 )
I’ve been spreading the word about voting today, hope Hope is doing okay.

        Where are you???

      • Michelle October 22, 2011 at 5:02 pm #

        Are you asking me Lin?
Do you mean where have I been spreading the word?

      • celia butler October 22, 2011 at 5:41 pm #

Hoping all dramas are now over and you can enjoy the rest of your week…glad Cal is okay. x

Nah Mic, trying to work out if they had actually left the country yet!!!!
        xx

It’s what you do, Henry recreated a pavement pizza in an Italian restaurant on the first night of our holiday and George had to give the waitress a ten euro tip to shovel it up and the man on the next table shouted ‘bon appetite’ as the chunks hit the floor, all part of the charm, have a lovely time 🙂

  13. Chloe Taylor-Jones October 22, 2011 at 12:12 am #

    Go Team Kilburn indeed!

  14. Kath October 22, 2011 at 7:55 am #

In case anyone else had the same problem voting as I did: it wasn’t my fault! How great is that? Apparently some of the ISPs have been declining to accept the verification emails, but now NWCF have manually verified for me and I’ve managed to vote – so if you’re struggling to get registered with them, just let them know. Thanks, Jill, for your help.

    • Jill Clayton October 22, 2011 at 7:15 pm #

Delighted to know that you got there in the end, Kath. A pity about Calum’s being sick or as Mic put it, “Onwards and upwards”
THere’s a lot of it about. I’m babysitting my grandchildren as their parents have both got the bug!

  15. Deb Walker October 22, 2011 at 7:24 pm #

Glad you are there now, safe and sound ….
Thinking of you all while you are away and hoping that you have a thoroughly relaxing (- but certainly not boring …. [never is with you Kilburns] …) and enjoyable time. Looking forward to hearing your tales ….. you have a talent for brilliant recount!
    Love to you all,
    Deb and gang xxxxxxxxxxx

Brilliant news about the Tabe Top Sale and you can definitely count me in for helping again, lovely day. Sylvie’s pictures on facebook of Lanzarote have made me hugely envious – it looks beautiful. I hope the flight went well!! See you soon, Corrine x

  17. Jill Clayton October 24, 2011 at 10:44 am #

With 22 minutes left to go. I think we are running third with 356 votes. That should put us safely in the money behind the horse sanctuary and the G& Sullivan Opera. We are only 12 votes ahead of the Breast Cancer charity so if you know of anybody else who hasn’t voted yet, now’s the time to twist their arm (I mean, of course, to give them the chance to find out about Rosie, the Knock-on effect and Hope!)

  18. margaret crisp October 24, 2011 at 11:50 am #

Hi Jill, did we make it??

    • jill Clayton October 24, 2011 at 12:51 pm #

Sorry, Mags, I don’t know! They’ve taken down the numbers voted for each cause. Apparently it will be announced on the Forth website. I expect the projects will all be informed as well.
“Hopefully”, SamS will let us know on this blog.
Even if it turns out we missed it by a whisker, at least there’s been more publicity for Hope and the Knock-on Effect

      • celia butler October 24, 2011 at 2:50 pm #

        Fingers crossed…
