Oh mother.

15 Sep

This is exactly what just happened:

Rosie: How long till we have to go?
Mum: About 5 minutes.
About 3 minutes passes.
*Phone rings*
Rosie: Leave it mum!
Mum: Picks up phone Hello?
Rosie: Mimes We’ve got to go!
Mum waves Rosie away.

We are now OBVIOUSLY going to be late! Why do mothers do that? Why answer the phone when you know that you haven’t got enough time to have an actual conversation?! I HAVE A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT TO GET TO! Oh gosh. Mother!

Hi Rosie, absolutely typical!!! If you don’t answer the phone though you worry about who it might have been…now we have a caller display so if we are in the middle of eating or something we can see if its someone important!!
    love mags.

After 30 years marriage to a practising vet, I cannot ignore a ringing phone. If I’m out somewhere, in a shop or the Library and the phone rings, I get all twitchy until someone answers.
My children were brought up on an extra nursery rhyme
      ” Always remember, never forget
The telephone rules in the house of the vet!”

I bet your mum said 5 mins but actually did mean 10 – because she wanted to make sure that you were ready, so by answering the phone she secretly knew that she actually had an extra spare few mins tucked up her sleave that you didn’t know about! I know thats what I do (even with Russ!) xx

It’s not a problem we have…our house phone’s gone all interesting on us and now doesn’t ring at all. It takes messages, but won’t do any of that disturbing you stuff – I rather like it.
